WordPress and ecommerce central found in… the woods of South Central Ohio?

As eBizNut, I get to travel a lot teaching WordPress, ecommerce and various other web technology classes. I’ve seen many locations across this land and met many great folks who are trying to squeeze a bit more production and profit from their small businesses with an improved web strategy. Many locations have asked for repeat classes but one area in Ohio takes the award for the most consistent user participation when it comes to WordPress programs.

The Hocking Hills area, specifically Athens and Logan, Ohio, has held no less than six classes in their area and they “sell out” nearly every time. If you are from Ohio, you know that this area really is off the beaten path and is a great place to get away from it all.  One would not expect it to be the Mecca of WordPress design.  Columbus, Dayton, Cincinnati or Cleveland maybe, but Athens?

In six visits to this area, we have seen over 100 WordPress users and started several websites.  Sites for businesses ranging from cabin rentals, to wood shops to roller-derby!  And typically the learning doesn’t stop in class.  Many attendees stay in touch with our office with several questions after sessions are complete.

It is great to see how the internet has continued to offer an “equalizer” for small businesses across America in large cities, small towns and even the hills of South Central Ohio.  Oh, and I guess I should mention, they have requested two more classes within the next 30 days. Cool!
